This morning’s ride: 28:02 Distance 6.04 Average 94 RPM
I was cautious this morning. It wasn’t raining–well, it wasn’t raining much. It was raining the kind of rain that when you first walk out into it you think ‘okay, so it’s not raining much. Just tiny little droplets’ And then you ride in it, and all those tiny little droplets hit you. They hit your legs. They hit your hands. They hit your face. They are a loose cloud. A loose cloud low to the ground A loose cloud you ride through, and as you ride through the droplets realize that it’s so much better to be connected to a warm moving body than it is to be a loose cloud this low to the ground, and they love you and cling to you like a desperate hope, and only too late do they realize that they are all too much and they connect, and their weight and mass move through you and over you and they can’t hold on any more so they fall in bigger drops off your legs and hands and face, to join with the rest of themselves on the cold, wet ground.
Shorter version: riding this morning sucked.
I took the short route around Cobb’s hill, and not too far into the ride I realized that it was indeed too wet to ride, so I completed a single loop and went home and wrung mself out. I also realized that I’m not doing enough work on hills. So, more hills soon.
But even writing about this morning makes me feel a bit soggy. So I’m stopping now.
one of my faves. love the about face between the first two paragraphs.
